Healing Reflection Studio
The Background
Founded in 2019 by Heather Lu, Healing Reflection Studio (HRS) provides medical massage and other wellness services in Willow Street, PA!
What started with medical massage has expanded into offering Aura-Soma, Vibrational Acoustic Therapy, Ionic Foot Detoxes, and more. The original HRS website no longer reflected the brand, services, and the overall client experience. Simply put, Heather told me the website “didn’t feel like her.”
HRS is part of Emerald Cove Wellness, which is a collective of independent practitioners who share a passion for supporting whole-body wellness. Also owned by Heather, Emerald Cove Wellness was ready for its own website, which you can read about here.
TLDR
Switching from SquareSpace to Wix, I built a new Healing Reflection Studio website to accurately represent its offerings and client experience.
Process Overview
During our discovery meeting, Heather shared with me her current services and the aesthetic she wanted for the new site: inspirational, clean, inviting, and professional.
Heather uses NutraRelief products during her medical massage sessions. She is a wholesaler and affiliate for the company. She wanted a “home” for this information and her affiliate link on the new site.
She also mentioned that she no longer used a booking service that was linked on her old site, and wanted to only list a phone number on the new site.
Deciding how customers contact your business is entirely up to you! You have options: contact form, email, phone number, text, etc.
When choosing a method (or methods), just keep in mind that you, or a team member, will need to monitor those inquiries. Choose the option that works best for you and your customers!
My focus is creating clean, easy-to-navigate websites. For HRS, we went simple, but still thorough! Home page, about page, and contact page, plus a page for each of the services (all under the dropdown menu of “services.”)
You want your site to naturally flow, the pages connecting at certain points (where it makes sense) and making details easy to find for customers. It’s one thing to have a list of all the info you want on your site, and another to decide WHERE to put it! I can help with that!
Website Before & After

Home Page
Content wise, the original HRS home page was great! You knew what HRS offered, had a peek into who Heather was, and even got to see a testimonial (which was linked to more testimonials)!
What was missing?
- New services
- Studio address
- Updated photos
- An aesthetic that represented HRS!
I always refer to the home page as a “jumping off point” for viewers. After reading through it, they should know who you are, what you do, where you’re located (if applicable), and have a natural next step. That could be contacting you, learning more about a service, etc.
The new home page checks all these boxes!
Service Pages
As mentioned earlier, HRS now offers a lot more than just medical massage, so we needed to add those new services to the site!
I’m already a fan of including a “what to expect” section on your website, but for HRS, it was crucial to share details about each service. This may be the first time viewers are hearing about Aura-Soma, VibroAcoustic Therapy, etc.
Viewers need to know what the services are, how it can benefit them, and how to move forward (book, fill out an inquiry form, etc.)
It’s also worth noting that the nature of HRS’s work requires a high level of trust and comfort from clients. Providing thoughtful, transparent information, in a welcoming way, was a priority.
Heather Lu, Owner of Healing Reflection Studio & Emerald Cove Wellness
"Jadan is a dream to work with!"
“Technology is not my strength so when it came to my website it felt so overwhelming. She helped organize my scattered artistic thoughts into a cohesive display of what I do.
I needed a few more pictures to complete the site. Jadan and her many talents, did a mini photo shoot. Stress free and she keeps you on track. You are in good hands if you choose her. I can’t recommend her enough!!!”
Imagery
Branding photography establishes professionalism, but it also builds trust and comfort. For a business offering wellness services, a stock photo doesn’t cut it- it doesn’t build trust.
When Heather and I first sat down, she had a beautiful gallery of branding photos from Kelsey Renee Photography, which were immensely helpful when building the site!
Yes, branding photography can be an inconvenience, at best, but it is authentic and worthwhile. It helps you speak directly to your ideal client. It allows clients to feel familiar with you, before they even meet you in person!
Stock photos certainly have a time and place, but branding photos are best-case scenario, especially when you’re working closely with clients.
This sentiment can be applied to other careers, such as financial advisement, tattooing, physical therapy, etc.
During the site building process, Heather needed a few more supplemental photos, which I was happy to capture!
Wix vs Squarespace
There are a lot of website builders out there, and they all have their own pros and cons! Heather was ready to have more customization than Squarespace could (easily) offer.
Wix is pretty customizable, and user-friendly, which means Heather can easily update small details like prices and descriptions on her own. I’ll spare you all my thoughts on Squarespace, but if you want any level of customization, you will be fighting it, to say the least. And I say that as someone who has built many sites on there!
I’m happy to help guide clients on choosing the best platform for them and their business! Just like I said about stock photos, there’s a time and place for each platform, and I’ve worked with most of them!
Domains
I strive to provide a seamless experience, from start to finish! This often includes connecting a new domain, buying a domain, or in this case, switching domains from one provider to another. A domain is the .com, .org, etc. your business has. For Heather, her domain is HealingReflectionStudio.com.
Just like with website builders, you have plenty of options on where you buy your domain, such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, Bluehost, etc. You can also decide if you want it in the same place as your site hosting.
Heather bought her domain through Squarespace when she built the site. When we switched the site to Wix, she decided to transfer the domain to Wix too, just so everything would be under one roof and easier to keep track of.
I guided this process, which is more cumbersome than difficult. Every platform operates a little differently and has its own quirks! I’m always happy to handle those details so my clients can stay focused on running their business, instead of being deep in the weeds with access codes, DNS, etc. We were able to successfully transfer her HRS domain and Emerald Cove domain to Wix!
